May Sales Update

Everyone at AZ Discount Haus hopes you all have been turning good profit from your thrifting and picking. Here are just a few of the things that have recently sold for us.

Just a few days ago a friend of ours gave us a collection of 70+ caps and hats for us to sell. The majority of these are what is known as Mesh Snapback Trucker Hats. Some of these can fetch some nice dollars, especially those that are truly vintage with older company logos. It's good to keep a look out for these styles of hats while you are our thrifting, picking and Goodwill hunting.

This vintage American Airlines Trucker Hat sold with in 24-hours of listing it. Not bad for no cost inventory. We've said it before and it's worth repeating, let people know you're selling on eBay and you will surprised at how much stuff they will give to you with no expectation of a piece of the profit.

Here we have a Chaps Ralph Lauren coffee cup that was picked at a Goodwill for $0.69. After shipping and fees, it's a net of $7. Not a bad ROI (return on investment) comes out to 925% in 32 days.

We struck the mother load a couple of weeks ago on Chico's Platinum Denim women's jeans during $1 day at our local Goodwill. We bagged 17 pairs of these jeans that are in excellent condition. Several pair have already sold and have more than made up our costs. Each pair that sells now is all profit, after shipping cost of course. ROI = 960% in 2 weeks.

Etsy Extra

Just a couple of weeks ago we began selling on Etsy and just had our first sale! We decided to take some of the items we have on eBay that are vintage and list them on Etsy

This vintage McCall's CookBook was bagged at our local Goodwill on dollar day. This book is in excellent condition and brought $29.99 + shipping on Etsy. Be sure to take a look through the cookbook section for vintage finds like this.

No Foolin'

This is no joke, the April Goodwill coupon is out for my Arizona thrifters. Save this image on your smart phone, Goodwill will accept the eCoupon by just showing it to them on your phone. We don't fool anyone when it comes to passing along the savings.

This recent haul from our local Goodwill on $1 day has already produced over $110 of profit.

In this haul we picked up these items to resell. Again each item was just $1.
  • The Office Trivia Game in excellent condition with all game pieces. We listed it for $12.99. Be sure to take a look in the board game section. Games for TV shows that have a following like The Office, Seinfeld and Friends will usually sell quickly. We've found new ones still in the shrink wrap before and have sold them for as high as $29.99.
  • McCalls Cookbook 1963 First Edition in excellent condition. We always browse the cookbook section to look for vintage finds like this one. Listed for $24.99.
  • Sony DVD VCR Combo Player. After testing it out, all functions were in working order. Listed it on Amazon and it sold two days later for $129.99 (see below).
  • 3 pair of women's Jeans, Ann Taylor LOFT, Chico's Premium Denim and Talbots Signature Denim. The Chico's jeans sold 3 days later for $16.99.

Sold, Sold, Sold

We are sharing some of the latest sales at Arizona Discount Haus as a way of helping any of you that are thinking about reselling or are fairly new to this game of reselling on Amazon, Bonanza and eBay. It also helps in seeing what out there is actually selling and a place to share some tips and ideas.

These are a few of the items that have sold since the last post.

First up, we have this Sony DVD/VCR Combo player that was bagged at a Goodwill on $1 day, a $1 makes me haallar! We tested it out and all functions worked and it was a nice clean unit. It sold a few days ago on Amazon for $74.99.

These are great units to be looking for while out there thrifting and picking. Even if you can pick them up for $5 it still makes for a good profit margin.

A Coupon & What's Sold

When we go out Goodwill hunting we always carry one of these...

Goodwill of Arizona sends these out by email each month. They also allow just showing them the coupon on the email from your phone, so you don't have to print them out. We try to get most things on dollar day, but sometimes we just can't wait and need to make sure we bag the item in question before someone else. We're all about saving as much as possible to increase those profit margins.

If you're in Arizona click on the coupon image or the link to get your Goodwill coupon. You might want to check your local area Goodwill's website to see if they have coupons too.

Haul Post 1

We might try a haul video at some point, but this post seems easier today.

Thursday's are dollar day at the local Goodwill here in the Phoenix area and this is the day we go out Goodwill hunting. Here is what we bagged today at just one Goodwill. All yellow tags were $1 and we picked up 8 items for $8.

A Free Dishwasher Yields Profits

Recently a friend was upgrading their dishwasher and asked if we would want their old one, which was in full working condition. We gladly accepted it because we have discovered that there are many parts that can be sold on Amazon, Bonanza or eBay. In addition, what parts can't be sold that are metal, can be taken and sold for scrap.

This LG Dishwasher Model LDS4821BB is the one that was given to us. There are many parts that can be sold whether the dishwasher works or not. Like these upper and lower rack rollers.

We also recently sold this mesh filter assembly on Amazon. All that was need for these to be sellable was a little cleaning.

Turn VCR's for Profit?

Come to find out used VCR's (video cassette recorders or players) can actually be a nice item to pick up on the cheap and resell on Amazon. Take a look at the Top 10 selling VCR's on Amazon and the prices they're fetching. Anywhere from $50 to $300 and more depending on the make and model.

Recently, I have been picking used VCR's from local thrift stores and Goodwill for $1 to $3. This one I just found Monday at Goodwill for $2.99.

After checking it out to see if it actually powered on and would load and eject a tape, I bought it and brought it home to hook up to the TV and thoroughly test it out. All functions worked great and now have it listed on Amazon for $79.99

Actually...

In this post I am going to share a few of the items that have Actually sold in our eBay and Amazon stores. I like haul videos or posts and hearing what others think their items will sell for, but I think it's good to share what items have actually sold for as well.

Here are a few of the things that have sold in the last week at AZ Discount Haus.

I wanted to share these first two items because it gives and idea of what you can be looking for when you're out there picking and maybe a different way of thinking about how some items can be sold.

This bread machine loaf pan came from a bread machine that I got at a Goodwill for $1 and have parted out to sell. There are several parts on these machines that can be sold whether the machine works or not, like this loaf pan. The mixing paddle, drive belt and lid are other parts from bread machines that can be sold. I have found that on average there are about $40 in parts that can be sold. In addition I will salvage the electric motor and other metal to take to the scrap yard for a few extra dollars too. So a $1 bread machine can bring an easy $40 of sellable parts.

Goodwill Hunting

Today is $1 at our local Goodwill's here in the Phoenix area, so we will be heading out to do a little hunting. It's always kinda fun to go out on the hunt for something, you never know what you might find.

Recently there was a man here in Phoenix who bought a watch for $5.99 and you won't believe what he sold it for....
$35,000! Check out the news story here

Well, we haven't found anything that amazing yet.
Last week on $1 day we did find a 10" Griswold Cast Iron Pan which we listed on eBay and it sold with in two days for $54.99.

We are hoping for a good hunt today and keeping our eyes open for the unusual, because you never know what you just might find in your local thrift store. Maybe a $35,000 watch.

It's A Start

Just starting a blog to share some of our experiences in the world of thrifting, picking and Goodwill hunting for items to up sell on Amazon, Bonanza and eBay.

Take a look at the other pages on the blog to see some of the things we have to offer in our respective online stores.

A common question I'm asked is,
Which of these companies is best to sell on?
The quick answer is, it depends. Some items sell better and for more money than others. Do some research of the item you have to sell on each of the three companies to see which one is best for what you have to sell.

One example of this is with VCR's, yes there is a market for them. A good working used VCR will sell for 20% - 40% more on Amazon than it will on eBay. We pick up VCR's at Goodwill for $3 - $5 or even $1 on dollar day. We then test them, clean them and list on Amazon in a matter of 2 minutes to sell between $50 - $100.
