A Free Dishwasher Yields Profits

Recently a friend was upgrading their dishwasher and asked if we would want their old one, which was in full working condition. We gladly accepted it because we have discovered that there are many parts that can be sold on Amazon, Bonanza or eBay. In addition, what parts can't be sold that are metal, can be taken and sold for scrap.

This LG Dishwasher Model LDS4821BB is the one that was given to us. There are many parts that can be sold whether the dishwasher works or not. Like these upper and lower rack rollers.

                                    

We also recently sold this mesh filter assembly on Amazon. All that was need for these to be sellable was a little cleaning.

Below are a few of the other parts that are listed and waiting to be sold, just to give you an idea of some of the other things to be aware of.

       


















   

Now, the above Main PCB Computer Board is in full working condition. We tested all of the functions of the dishwasher before disassembling it. Don't try to sell these if you don't know for sure if they work, it will only cause headaches and poor seller ratings. 

One of the best items to sell from a dishwasher are the racks, providing there is no rust on them. New replacement racks can cost as much as $120 to $150 each (upper or lower). Selling used ones in great condition (no rust) can fetch $50 to $70 each. Unfortunately, the racks on this dishwasher had some rust on them and we didn't list them. But, we did include them in the scrap metal.

Another easy seller from a used dishwasher are the silverware racks. They usually sell for $19 to $30.

The parts that we salvaged from this dishwasher that were in sellable condition, will net an easy $240. No bad for an item that was given away to us.

Which brings to mind the question, where can one find free or cheap dishwashers that could have sellable parts?

First, Craigslist. You would be surprised how many dishwashers get listed for free to just pick up off the curb. 

Second, Goodwill. At our local Goodwill's Thursdays are $1 day, where certain colored tags are only $1. We have gotten dishwashers for $1, but even when it's not dollar day some dishwashers are only $15 to $20 and if the racks don't have any rust you can double your money just on the racks alone.
